Gig Review: esOterica and Vallenbrosa 6/11/09

Loss seemed to be the overriding theme of the evening, as tonight was the last ever In Rock We Trust and one of Britain’s finest Heavy Rock bands announced they were calling it a day! ‘You don’t realize what you’ve got, until it’s gone’ is how the saying goes.
I wonder if Bournemouth’s rock community do realize the wealth of bands and the good rock music filled nights, which In Rock We Trust has delivered over the past couple of years! With Bear Essentials and Wax Entertainment booking quality bands from near and far and taking a multitude of song requests on the night, it was the place for the alternative crowd to hang out in Bournemouth.

For this last shindig, they made sure to lay on some quality entertainment. To kick off the evening’s fun and games, one of the best live bands in Britain, took to the stage. Vallenbrosa are a truly class live act that always deliver the goods. Their full on, smack you in the chops riffs, catchy melodies and powerful drumming, always get heads-a-banging. They announced that the new album would be out on Monday, cheers all round! Then they announced that they were splitting up and this would be their last gig, cue the sound of many jaws hitting the floor all round. Like true professionals the band carried on and put on a fantastic show and I for one feel privileged to have been present at their last live outing.

Headliners esOterica are up next and their heady blend of Nine Inch Nails meets The Cure appeals to punters of the more gothic persuasion. They are supporting Marilyn Manson on his UK tour so it’s hardly surprising. Good guitar playing and a strong rhythm section get the Champions crowd up and moving. The vocals were a bit strained in places but the singer knows how to work an audience and kept us all very entertained. Not really my bag but they got the thumbs up from most people tonight.
In Rock We Trust we bid you farewell and hope that sometime in the near future you will come back and kick our asses again.

I’m gonna miss Vallenbrosa….and IRWT best night in Bournemouth.
Vallenbrosa rocked the place, real shame they splittin up, and even worse the IRWT night comes to an end.
Sad sad day that was ;-(
Looking forward to the Pantera night coming up as will be a good chance to catch up with the crowd again.
Too right, 101% Pantera should be an awesome night!
Well it’s come to an end, as all good things must ( I dont who the hell said that, its completely wrong!) I missed the last one BOO! I had many a good night at In Rock We Trust and hope that Dan and Bear go on to do many other exciting projects.
