The iBar’s black painted walls were literally dripping with moisture, exuded from the adrenalized crowd when Canada’s premier hardcore punkers the Cancer Bats, took to the stage.

They kick off with Pneumonia Hawk and it’s as if someone has set off a landmine in the mist of the audience; they suddenly explode in a mass of limbs and bodies as a frantic mosh pit opens up!

Singer Liam Cormier does an impressive Spiderman impersonation as he leaps onto the throng and crowd-surfs with hand and feet on the low basement ceiling. We are treated to a highly energetic set, with one full on face-melting song after another.

They draw to a close with a kick ass cover of the Beastie Boys ‘Sabotage’ and finish with the brutal head crushing title track of new opus ‘Hail Destroyer’.

The last shout out is that “This has been the last and best night of the tour, thank you Bournemouth.” And thank you Cancer Bats for a bloody awesome gig!
