Thomas And The Mock Ups – England’s Glory

This weeks Track of the Week is brought to you by recent Blandford Battle of the Bands winners Thomas and the Mock Ups. This song is perfect to feature now considering the UK has just been through another election full of political unrest.
England’s Glory is an infectious stomper, reminiscent of The Jam’s pomp and swagger. It starts off with jangly guitar and builds with pounding drums into a passionate and frank tale of working class life in today’s Britain. The raw appeal of the track combined with lead singer Thomas Burdett’s commanding vocals and political lyrics make for a mighty sing along anthem that defies you not to take notice.

The band describe their sound as “dirty south rock ‘n’ roll” but it also bleeds red, white, and blue in the vein of old fashioned British rock ‘n’ roll. There’s also a little anarchy thrown in for good measure. If you’re down with that or into punk, soul, and indie this track definitely deserves a listen. You can listen to the track right now at www.myspace.com/thomasandthemockups. Ready, steady, go!
