‘Do Not Meddle In The Affairs Of Dragons For You Are Crunchy And Good With Ketchup’ is a well produced, solid rock offering from Dorset four piece …And The Magical 8-Ball Band. Any band that names their EP after a Monty Python quote, which in turn is a Tolkein parody obviously don’t take themselves too seriously. In this case, it’s a good thing. Don’t let this fool you though, these guys haven’t let their relaxed, jovial outlook let the quality of the musicianship or production slip one bit.

…And The Magical 8-Ball Band have created a very accessible EP. There are essences of both classic and punk rock sprinkled throughout and tracks like ‘Voice of Reason’ and ‘iPod’ are punchy and have all the right hooks in all the right places. For me, the highlight is the medieval stadium rocker that is ‘Dead and Gone’. It’s just a shame that this track seems to sit apart from the rest of the record in terms of it’s style. Even so, this is a well polished EP by a very musically competent band. Keep your eyes and ears on these guys to see what they pull out of the hat next.
