Champions venue has undergone some serious changes since I was last there and all are for the best! The corner stage and the table between the pillars have gone, only to be replaced with a brand new stage at the rear of the venue. This gives more room for punters to see the bands and the bands an easier time for setting up their instruments, as the stage is right next to the dressing room. New sound and lighting system is in effect and with a few minor tweaks will kick ass! This is a major display of intent from the venue to be taken seriously as a genuine contender on the Dorset live music scene. With some major names lined up to play, I can only see this place going from strength to strength.

This was originally going to be a classic album review of Rainbow’s Rising. But having found out that the lead vocalist of that outstanding opus, Ronnie James Dio, has lost his battle with Cancer; I feel that an article in praise of the great man would be more fitting.
Just a small reminder that rock band InMe are playing Chords in Poole on Thursday 20th May 2010. Support comes from Fei Comodo, Envy Of The State and The Longest Day.
Chalk Ink Promotions pulled out all the stops and delivered an outstanding aural ear bashing at Champions. We arrived late and missed the first band Into The Dust (bummer!) but caught the last four songs from Throats! What I saw was very loud, very aggressive and very, very good!
Bournemouth venue Champions, is hosting a full-on, kick-you-in-the-nuts night in mid April! Headline act Rolo Tomassi and their unique blend of thrash mathcore are just not to be missed. Support bands are Sacremento hardcore punk headcases Trash Talk, with further support from Throats and Into The Dust. All the info you need is below.
You have to feel for Chickenhawk tonight, second band on four-band bill and unbeknownst to them, the venue down the road has two popular local bands on, with free entry. Still, although the punters are thin on the ground, this outfit comes out swinging.
